Remove Hidden Metadata from PDF Files

Your documents never leave your device. PDFs store author names, company info, creation dates, and software details invisibly. We strip it all — in your browser, with no upload.

How it works

Drop your PDFs

Select one or more PDF files. Nothing is uploaded — your browser reads the file into memory using the File API. No internet connection needed.

Metadata stripped

Author, title, subject, keywords, company, software, creation and modification dates are all removed from the PDF Info dictionary using pdf-lib running locally.

Download clean PDF

Save the cleaned file — same pages, same content, no identifying metadata. Safe to share without revealing who made it or when.

What PDF metadata can reveal

Every PDF created by Word, Acrobat, or any other application embeds hidden metadata into the file. This includes the author's full name, the company or organisation name from their software licence, the software name and version, and the exact creation and modification dates and times.

When you share a PDF for a quote, a job application, a legal document, or any sensitive purpose, this metadata travels with it and can be read by anyone — using free tools or even a text editor.
